Quiet,
quiet December night in Satoyama
Acorns
fall on our kitchen door
Mother and
I alone
Cook
chestnuts over our hearth
Bright,
bright December stars in the sky
Travelling
ducks are calling over the night
I munch
chestnuts,
And
remember the smile,
That
bright smile of Father
Goodbye to
the island of coconuts
Father is
coming home in a rolling ship.
Father,
please be safe,
Mother and
I are waiting for you.
